Students killed during the armed struggle commemorated in Kilinochchi

18 October 2021A blood donation camp was organised ahead of Children’s Day by graduates of 2015 of Kilinochchi Maha Vidyalayam in memory of students who lost their lives during the armed struggle. The blood donation took place at the Kilinochchi Regional Health Services Department for the eighth consecutive year on Sunday.

Thousands of students were either murdered or forcibly disappeared during the armed conflict between the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) and the Sri Lankan government between 1983 and 2009.

Amongst those who attended the event were director of the Jaffna Teaching Hospital, Dr. Sathyamoorthy, officer in charge of the blood bank of the Kilinochchi District Hospital, Dr. S. Karunadeepa, doctors, accountant of Kilinochchi Zonal Education Office, Naveen, former principals and teachers of Kilinochchi Maha Vidyalayam and alumni.
