Batticaloa residents condemn PTA and CTA
23 February 2019Locals in Batticaloa yesterday held a demonstration condemning Sri Lanka’s current anti-terror legislation, the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA) and the proposed Counter Terrorism Act (CTA)
Protesters condemned both Acts as the ‘death of democratic dissent’ and accused the state of using such laws to crackdown on legitimate opposition.
